About YardCalc
YardCalc is a small collection of free material calculators for yard and concrete projects. The goal is simple: help you order the right amount of concrete, mulch, gravel, or pavers the first time, without a spreadsheet or a second delivery fee.
How we keep the numbers honest
- Every calculator page explains the exact formula it uses.
- Constants come from published sources: concrete bag yields from manufacturer product data, base depths from industry installation guidance, and material densities from standard supplier planning figures.
- The calculation code is covered by automated tests against worked reference examples.
- Formulas were last reviewed on 2026-07-17.
Our editorial process
Every page follows the same rules: state the formula, name the source of every constant, show worked examples that can be checked by hand, and date-stamp the last review. When a real-world quantity is genuinely variable — waste margins, compaction, regional product names — we say so instead of pretending one number fits everyone. Where an outside demonstration explains a job better than text (like pouring a slab), we embed and credit the original creator's video rather than restating it.
What this site is not
YardCalc provides planning estimates, not engineering, construction, or purchasing advice. Site conditions, local codes, product variations, and waste all affect real-world quantities — always confirm with your supplier or a licensed contractor. See the full disclaimer.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use and may show advertising and clearly marked affiliate links to relevant tools. Ads and affiliate links never change the calculation results.
